“An ant on the move does more than a dozing ox.”
I think it’s safe to say that 100% of the people who visit our website and join my mailing list want to have some online income.
After all, that’s what this information is all about.
Yet there is one obstacle for which I can offer zero help: making the decision to start.
The reality is that there is no way to actually motivate another person.
Even the pros at the top of the “motivational” food chain – guys like Tony Robbins and Zig Ziglar – know that we need to find motivation wherever we can but ultimately our decisions are ours and ours alone. Nobody can make a decision for us.
Of course, we all need reminders to keep moving in the direction we desire to go. One of my email signatures quotes Pablo Picasso; “Action is the foundational key to all success.”
When you have your own online business – and I hope you do very soon – you’ll spend a lot of your time trying to figure out why the people who say they absolutely, positively want what you are offering keep procrastinating.
My own hypothesis is that they see the entirety of the task as overwhelming, or at least too overwhelming to start today, right now.
But when you start building your own source of online income you don’t do “everything” right now.
You just do a small, bite-sized thing that gets you started down the path.
And when you plan things right, the whole path is enjoyable because it’s chosen to play to your strengths and your interests.
Small steps. That’s the key.
I guess 2,500 years ago Lao Tzu knew that, hence his observation that a moving ant gets more done than a sleeping ox.
This message will be read by a lot of people today.
Will you be among the few who decide to stop procrastinating on what you really want and take that first step today?
Which reminds me of another favorite quotation; ‘A year from now you may wish you had started today' – Karen Lamb.
